Property market 'to blossom' in Lanarkshire

House prices could be due to rise in Lanarkshire, as a £34.5 million transport link has just been unveiled for the area.

House prices could be due to rise in Lanarkshire, as a £34.5 million transport link has just been unveiled for the area.

The new Larkhall/Milngavie branch line connects commuters straight into Glasgow from Larkhall, Merryton and Chatelherault. It was the initiative of Strathclyde Passenger Transport working with the Scottish Executive, First ScotRail, Network Rail, Glasgow City and South Lanarkshire councils.

Martin Turner, director at Clyde Property, told the Hamilton Advertiser: " It is good news for the property market and especially good news for people considering selling in Larkhall."

He added that those who regarded good transport links as a major priority would also now be interested in buying property in the area.

It is also hoped that this will generate further employment and investment into the Larkhall area. House prices in this region currently stand at £72,000.
