Property prices "to hit £2,000"
The average property price in the UK is to reach the £200,000 mark next year, reports property website Rightmove.
The average property price in the UK is to reach the £200,000 mark next year, reports property website Rightmove. Currently, the average house price is £196,181, a drop of 0.8 per cent from the previous month according to the survey. However, the firm also found that house prices fell by five per cent in the four weeks to December 3rd. Miles Shipside, commercial director of Rightmove, said: "Demand has consistently outstripped the supply of housing." He added that this had contributed to the continuous increase in house prices and that a two per cent rise would easily "break the £200,000 barrier". Rightmove also speculated that the housing market would see a lot less extremities and could be overall more positive. Estate agents figures for this month show that unsold property stocks per estate agency branch have decreased from 69 to 65.
