ODPM announces housing scheme review

The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) has announced that a review of its housing and regeneration programmes has been launched.

The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) has announced that a review of its housing and regeneration programmes has been launched.

According to the ODPM, the review will evaluate the best way to supply new homes, housing improvements and mixed communities through the use of investments and subsidies.

Local government and communities minister David Miliband suggested that the review would enable the process to develop further following what has already been "real progress".

"Delivering sustainable communities across England will require even greater focus and skill in the future, as we move towards creating genuinely mixed, sustainable communities in every English region," Mr Miliband said.

Advice will be collated from a variety of sources, which will offer their opinions on the best way for the national mechanisms related to the finance of the programmes to move forward.

Chairs and chief executives of English Partnerships, the Housing Corporation and representatives of local government are a selection of those whose opinions will be included in the review.
